06 Apr Threatened trees in the Cardamom Rainforest, Cambodia
Protecting threatened tree species in the Cardamom Rainforest Biodiversity Hotspot in Cambodia through effective law enforcement
Partner: Wildlife Alliance
Years: 2020-2022
There is currently a wave of forest and encroachment in Protected Areas in Indonesia, Cambodia, Laos and Myanmar.
The project will take place in the Cardamom Rainforest Landscape, South-West Cambodia, a vast mountain range that covers 20’000 km2. The goal of the project is to fight a mounting wave of deforestation that is threatening forests in the entire country. A proven, very effective model of ranger law enforcement will be applied, focusing on stopping people who are conducting deforestation and wildlife poaching. Wildlife Alliance’s ranger protection is located on-site, at the front-line, where action is needed the most.
