Assessing the conservation status of trees from Mexico

Assessing the conservation status of all endemic and near endemic trees from Mexico

Partenaires: Instituto de Ecología, A.C. – INECOL
Période: 2019-2020

Only few efforts have been undertaken in Mexico to assess tree conservation statuses, a key information needed to prioritize conservation actions.

This project aims at addressing this important knowledge gap by assessing all endemic and near-endemic Mexican tree species, approximately 1300 trees species in total, for the IUCN Red List by 2020. This project therefore contributes significantly to the Global Tree Assessment which aims to assess all tree species at the global level by 2020, approximately 60’000 trees species.
