GTC – GLOBAL TREES CAMPAIGN

Taking action for threatened tree species

Organizations: BGCI, Fauna and Flora International
2019 / 2021

The Global Trees Campaign (GTC) is a partnership between Botanic Gardens Conservation International (BGCI) and Fauna & Flora International (FFI) with a mission to secure the future of the world’s threatened tree species in situ, for the benefit of people and wildlife. The GTC has four inter-related objectives: (i) to identify priority species for action; (ii) to take action to protect and recover the world’s most threatened trees; (iii) to empower partners and practitioners to undertake effective conservation for threatened trees; (iv) to mobilise others to act for threatened trees.
Since it was established in 1999 this unique partnership has addressed the conservation of over 423 threatened tree species, catalysing and delivering action for trees in 48 countries working with a network of local partners. In the coming three years, 176 additional species located in 13 additional countries will be included bringing the total to 599 species and 61 countries.
